Discover more about our Digital Marketing Manager, Lori Hoy, including her work at TSR Select, what she enjoys about her role, and how she spends her free time (hint: a lot of it is spent outside with her dog, Princess Buttercup).
1) What is your role at TSR and what activities does your job include?
I am the Digital Marketing Manager at IT recruitment agency, TSR Select. I started in April of 2021, so I have been with the agency for a little over a year. I am the go-to person for all things marketing including our website and social media.
We are also working on additional digital marketing initiatives that we will be rolling out later in the year. I am really excited to work on these new projects and help the team to achieve our goals.
2) What is your previous work experience?
I have roughly 20 years of professional experience in marketing through a range of jobs in multiple industries. I have a lot of experience in content creation, website management, social media, and digital marketing. I have worked in roles doing digital media buying, location planning, CRM database management, advertising, communications, website management, and PR in industries such as consumer packaged goods, advertising agency, legal, and hospitality.

3) What interested you in doing marketing for an IT recruitment agency?
I have been interested in recruitment for quite some time and I have a lot of experience in services marketing. I wanted to maintain and advance my marketing skills so when I saw the role at TSR, I thought it would be a great opportunity. After I learned about the years of IT recruitment experience at TSR and the niche nature of the business, I wanted to join the team and help to grow the business.
4) What does your typical work week look like?
I don't have a typical work week. I work part-time in my role with TSR and I juggle those responsibilities around doing a PhD full-time at the University of Surrey. However, I often spend Thursdays working on TSR marketing projects and I check on our website, social media, and other marketing projects daily.
5) What do you like most about your job?
I love that my role is flexible and it allows me to be both creative and analytical. We are a specialist IT recruitment agency, and it is my job to make sure that candidates and companies can learn more about our services and how we can help them. It feels great to connect our sales and technical recruitment consultants with IT professionals and clients. It is also rewarding to be part of a team especially when I can help our IT recruitment consultants achieve their goals.

6) What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like spending time with my dog, Princess Buttercup whether that is going on our 2-3 daily walks, going on daytrips in the Southeast of England, or week-long holidays with her. We have had some great adventures and have particularly loved the beach in Kent, exploring the Scottish Highlands, and hiking in North Wales. We have a few more trips around England and Scotland planned this year.
I also really enjoy yoga and participating in long walks - I participate in a few Ultra Challenge walks a year and I am a member of The Ramblers and participate in walks when I can. I also work a few hours a month as a Marketing Ambassador for the University of Surrey's Doctoral College; volunteer for the Fundraising & Events team for the animal charity, Blue Cross; and Buttercup and I are Brand Ambassadors for dog-related app, K9 Nation.
7) Can you share some fun facts about you?
I grew up on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma, USA. I have lived in 9 US States but have lived in the UK for 8 years. I also love to travel and have been to 36 countries.
