As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing our newest team member, Akshay Rahal, who joined TSR Select in late 2025 as a member of our Sales Support team. Akshay works closely with Gary, Luke, and Vish, supporting candidate engagement, research, and sales activity across the business.
We asked Akshay a few questions to learn more about his role, background, and what he enjoys both inside and outside of work.
1. What is your role at TSR and what does it involve?
My role at TSR is Sales Support. I support Gary, Luke, and Vish with activities such as email send-outs, speaking with candidates, and researching new companies that may be hiring. The role is very varied and gives me exposure to different parts of the recruitment process.
2. What was your previous work experience?
Before joining TSR, I ran a marketing agency for roofing companies. A large part of that role involved cold calling and prospecting, especially in the early stages. This really helped me build the soft skills needed for a sales-focused environment, such as confidence, communication, and resilience.
3. How long have you been in IT recruitment and at TSR Select?
TSR is actually my first role in IT recruitment. I started in late November 2025, so I’ve been here for a few months.
4. What interested you in IT recruitment?
Honestly, IT recruitment was never something I had planned to go into. I was applying for tech sales roles through TSR’s website when Gary reached out to me about this opportunity. After speaking with Gary and the rest of the team, I became really interested in the sector and decided to give it a go. Looking back, it’s been one of the best decisions I could have made.

5. How do you help candidates and clients?
I focus on the initial screening of candidates, making sure I understand what they’re looking for in their next role. From there, I help match them with suitable companies and opportunities. I try to support candidates as much as possible by understanding their motivations and what matters most to them in a new position.

6. What does a typical working day look like for you?
My day usually starts with a quick Teams meeting with Luke or Vish to discuss priorities for the day. From there, it involves a mix of prospecting, admin work, updating company records, researching new businesses, and reaching out to candidates. I try to speak with as many candidates as possible to understand why they’re looking for a new role and how I can help.
7. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I really enjoy speaking with candidates and learning more about their background and career goals. When we’re able to help someone secure a new role, it’s incredibly rewarding and makes the job worthwhile.
8. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I like going to the gym and playing sports such as tennis and badminton. I also enjoy hiking with friends, especially during the summer months. One of my highlights was reaching the top of Snowdon, which was a great experience.
