Quarterly Update from TSR Select: Closing Q2 2023

As we closed out Q2, our figures were not exactly where we wanted. The number of new, interesting vacancies in both IT sales and technical have been high, but for the first time for a while there is some uncertainty in the air and we have not actually placed as many people as we had hoped or expected. Also, we had fallen behind in our in-house recruiting schedule although we have now corrected that.

As an IT recruitment agency, we have had to work with high inflation, the war in Ukraine, a change of Prime Minister, the ongoing Boris Johnson fiasco, big tech lay offs, and a change in mindset from growth to a new focus on being efficient and making a profit.

Together all of these factors have led to people moving more cautiously on both sides of the recruitment landscape - candidates and clients. Combine this with a slight lack of focus on the delivery side within the business and you end up with average performance.

The underlying trends of TSR are very positive though. The number of live vacancies, increasing salary levels, and an increasing number of new clients being referred to us mean that the outlook is very strong. With hard work and a focus on delivery, the business outlook is really strong.

In other very exciting news, we're pleased to announce that Vish Boghaita has re-joined the company as a Senior Technical Consultant. Vish worked for TSR for five years prior to the pandemic, where he was responsible for helping to set up the technical side of the business. He has a track record of placing 1st/2nd/3rd Line Engineers, Service Desk and Service Delivery Managers, Technical Consultants, Project Managers, Technical Leads, and similar roles. He has fitted back in at TSR really easily.

Plus, we have another hire due to start next month. Cameron will be joining us as a Senior Consultant and is based in Manchester. He joins with previous experience in technical recruitment for some of the UK's biggest companies. He will be responsible for all Northern clients for TSR, developing in-house technical recruitment, as well as developing relationships with some of our major clients on the sales side where he will introduce the technical side of the business.

We have a clear focus moving forward. This has involved a partial rebrand to make sure people really understand what we do and for which markets.

This means 'TSR Select is the Cloud, Cyber, and Managed Service Agency for Sales and Technical Recruitment'.

We are the agency to choose for IT recruitment needs in these areas because:

1. We are a niche recruitment agency focusing heavily on certain key IT markets that we are really effective in.
2. All TSR Recruitment Consultants are experienced career recruiters. The minimum level of experience is 7 years.
3. We have contacts and a database built up over years that help to provide real solutions to clients and candidates.

In a sector where many people have serious doubts about their IT recruitment agency's ability to deliver, their recruitment consultant's level of experience and knowledge, and if working with a recruitment agency will help or hinder their business, I really believe TSR continues to develop a reputation for expertise and efficiency.

Moving forward over the next quarter will include a complete focus on delivery including extra work on finding candidates through the use of LinkedIn Recruiter, our in-house referral system, and by maintaining contact with candidates already on our database to let them know of the new opportunities that we are continually creating.

To summarise the year so far:

Q1: Great start to the year and record figures and number of people placed
Q2: Very average which is a great reminder to keep focused and don't just expect things to happen
Q3: Great opportunity ahead if we put in the hard work and aim for record figures and numbers of placements.
